If McMUN 2021 was me dipping my toes in the water, then McMUN 2022 was me diving headfirst into it. Seriously, this was an amazingly fun conference that sparked the flame for passion in my heart for international relations, debate, and politics. I had a blast setting motions, negotiating with my fellow delegates and being engaged in heated debates. I learned a lot about myself in these three days.

For example, I now know that I do not care much for writing position papers; I would much rather be in the middle of the action and feel like my words and decisions bring true and rapid change. Thus, I think that for my next Model UN conferences, I will be going for more crisis committees. One of the delegates from my committee was the head delegate for Queen’s University’s Model UN club, and I learned through him about QMUNI, which will take place from March 3rd to March 6th. Being a fan of Star Wars, I decided to apply for their Star Wars-themed crisis committee; I know it will be very stimulating. Back to my experience with McMUN: I showed signs of charisma and confidence, and they did not go unnoticed; by our final committee session, my colleagues were complimenting me on my oratory skills. Still to this day, I take their compliments with great humility; it really shows me how I am capable of great things, and this especially after a more difficult period of my life.
